Plans for a £500,000 rope course in have been backed.

After what a critic has branded an “inexcusable” delay. Bosses at the Council gave the plans on the former Splashlands pool a thumbs up – and said a planning application for full redevelopment of the site is expected within weeks. If planning consent is granted, the rope course construction is anticipated to open next summer, with further facilities including a cafe and wetlands area to follow 12 months later.

The overall cost of the project is expected to be around £2.7million. When complete, it will be run by contractor Finesse Leisure, which will provide trained instructors. The authority says the course is aimed at people of all ages.Who is responsible for policy and culture, branded the development “exciting”, and said he was confident the development would pay for itself.
