Award-winning activity centre, Calvert Kielder has announced the arrival of its latest attraction, the ‘Kielder ZipCoaster’. The attraction's patented technology mimics the ups, downs, twists, and turns of a rollercoaster alongside the free-flying sensation of a traditional zipwire to give riders the ultimate dual experience.

This latest addition makes use of the Skywalker ZipCoaster system, creating a highly marketable thrill attraction that expands Calvert Kielder's robust activity offering, which already includes high ropes, king swings, and climbing walls.

SkyWalker Adventure Builders designed and constructed the bespoke ride for Calvert Kielder to make the most of the surrounding topography and views. The ride adapts a roller coaster rail system, harnessing thrill-seekers into a seated position for a journey that dips and twists through the trees, reaching speeds of up to 20mph.

Peter Cockerill, chief executive officer at the centre, first saw the concept in action in the US. “We are always looking for new and innovative ways to improve the Calvert experience here in Kielder. We heard about the ZipCoaster in Florida and knew that we had to bring it to the UK. Visitors can expect a really exhilarating new experience.”

Inclusive Design Commitment In line with the organisation’s commitment to accessibility, the ride was engineered to be suitable for all abilities. A dedicated lift was installed to enable wheelchair users to access the launch platform and enjoy the ride.
